Tandem 40/45

The Bromma Tandem telescopic 40’/45′ spreader has a great advantage in versatility, since it can handle all container sizes. This spreader will “twinlift” 20´, 40´ or 45´ containers side by side in Tandem mode, without the need, as in the fixed-length version, for periodic change-out.

Description

Possible container combinations Tandem 45:
20´, 40´, 45´, 2×20´, 1×20´+1×40´, 1×20´+1×45´, 2×40´, 2×45´, 1×40´+ 1×45´

Possible container combinations Tandem 40:
20´, 2×20´, 40´, 2×20´, 3×20´, 4×20´, 2×20´+1×40´, 2×40´

This telescopic Tandem delivers high productivity per lift cycle with no potential “downside” in terms of downtime created by change-outs. This spreader is also based on proven Bromma spreader design, as it uses the Bromma SSX40/45 spreader as its standard base. Spreader capacity is 70 metric tons under the spreader. If a terminal plans to utilize the full 70 metric tons capacity under the spreader, crane capacity will need to be approximately 100 metric tons in the ropes. As such, the telescopic Tandem can be used without restriction on many last-generation container cranes in service today. Customers who handle very few 45′ containers may wish to consider the 40’ version of the telescopic Tandem. This will save approximately 2 metric tons in spreader weight.

Customers with a high number of empty 40′ containers may want to give special consideration to the productivity advantages of the telescopic Tandem. When selecting the telescopic Tandem, customers should be aware that when handling twin-20’s side-by-side in 40 and 45 ft. cell guides they can only use the support one end of the cell guides.

The spreader is designed in accordance with EN13001. As all Bromma spreaders it is made from European high quality steel, which ensures a light and robust design. The spreader has a user friendly design and all components are easily accessible for inspection and maintenance.
